A 21-year-old Indian woman along with her lover kidnapped a two-and-a-half-year-old boy in Ludhiana, India, to offer him as a “human sacrifice” so that her second marriage is successful.
According to police, Parminder Kaur, alias Sonia, and Chandan Tiwari confessed they kidnapped the child after a tantrik told them “if they wanted to have a successful married life, they will have to sacrifice a child to appease the Gods”.

Tarlochan Singh, in-charge, crime investigation agency, Mohali, said the couple kidnapped the boy from Sayan Klan village, near Ludhiana, on June 18.
Manik Chaudhary, the father of the child, named Tiwari in his complaint. Chaudhary said Chandan was his friend and used to visit his house often. Police registered an FIR under Sections 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Dehlon police station on June 18.
Receiving secret information about Tiwari, a resident of New Gagan Nagar, Ludhiana, and Kaur of Bairowal, Tarn Taran, Mohali police deployed a dummy customer to buy the child. The deal was set at Rs 1.5 lakh. Tempted by the huge amount, the two got caught in the police trap. As they were being given the money, cops caught them.
Police later handed over the child to the mother and the accused to Ludhiana Police.
