Three People lost their lives and about 28 persons injured with no fewer than 158 others including women and children were displaced aftermath of the recent devastating windstorm disaster in seven communities of Goronyo and Gada Local Government Areas in Sokoto state.
However, more than a thousand buildings including a worship center and other structures were damaged among which about 31 were severely damaged and destroyed following the ravaging windstorm.
The affected communities are Tsitse, Karangiya, Bassana, Goronyo, Shinaka, Giyawa and Taloka.
An assessment team comprising of staff of Nema Sokoto Operations Office were led to various affected places by officials of SEMA Sokoto, delegated staff of the Local Government Areas and authorities from the communities to conduct an on the spot assessment of the incident.
Meanwhile, NEMA is expected, after conducting the assessment with the view to determine the extent of the damage and to ascertain those affected will forward a comprehensive report to the federal government for intervention.
