Belgium’s display was like poetry in motion as they rattled the Brazilians to a 2-1 victory to lead them into their second ever World Cup semi-finals appearance.
Belgium capitalised on super counter attacking football and set piece dominance to foil the Brazilian threat.
  • The first half was a display of attacking football genius by Belgium as they blitzed the Brazilians 2-0.

  • Belgium used the counterattack to great effect and it was clear from the onset that it was part of their strategy to defeat Brazil. Belgium’s physical dominance came to play in the 13th minute when they forced Fernandinho to concede and own goal.

  • Belgium doubled their lead again in the 31st minute with a well arrowed shot from Kevin Debruyne from outside the box. Brazil had every right to be disappointed with their first half display despite creating the bulk of opportunities but not converting anyone of them.
  • In the second half Brazil upped the ante and finally had their break in the 76thminute with a great header from Renato Augusto to give Brazil renewed hope, but it was not enough as they did not have enough to break down the resolute Belgian defence.
  • Their next matche will be France vs Belgium.
